Youth Development Scholarship Program

 Detroit Scholars Pathway Initiative

The Detroit Scholars Pathway Initiative (DSPI) is a transformative youth development program aimed at empowering one hundred inner-city Detroit students to achieve academic excellence, secure full-ride college scholarships, and build meaningful careers.

  • Academic Excellence

    • Establish a structured grade monitoring system to help students maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA in high school.
    • Provide tutoring, study resources, and academic workshops to foster continuous growth.
  • Scholarship Success

    • Guide students through finding, applying for, and securing full-ride college scholarships. (Detroit Promise, Wayne State Promise, etc.)
    • Host college preparation seminars, including essay writing, application strategies, and financial aid education.
  • Community Engagement

    • Students will contribute over 100 hours of community service through Feed Your Neighborhood (FYN), strengthening their connection to Detroit and fostering a culture of giving back.

  • Mentorship and Career Building

    • Match students with mentors from diverse professional fields to offer guidance, networking, and real-world insights.
    • Host career development workshops on topics such as resume building, public speaking, and interview preparation.
  • Career Placement and Trade Industry Opportunities

    • Support students with job placement in their chosen fields upon graduation.
    • Offer alternative career pathways through trade industry training and certifications for those pursuing skilled trades. (Detroit At Work)

Thanks to the support of Black Tech Saturdays and the Detroit College Access Network, we are able to award scholarships to four deserving students to support them on their educational journeys.

DSPI is committed to supporting students throughout their educational journey, beginning in middle school and extending through college graduation. FYN will oversee each student’s progress, providing personalized intervention and encouragement to ensure success.

Kristin Ray-Farley

My name is Kristin Ray-Farley, I graduated Cass Tech in 2024 and now currently a sophomore at Michigan State University.

I am studying Animal Science and spent my summer with FYN planting urban gardens, Finding funding and partners to support our communities pet supply needs, videography/photography for the marketing team, and distributing food to community collecting over 100 community service hours and serving over 5000 families!

My name is Christian Ray-Farley, I graduated Cass Tech in 2024 and now currently a sophomore at Michigan State University.

I am studying Computer Engineering. I spent my summer with FYN creating sustainable landscapes, helping FYN’s clothing design team, and distributing food to community collecting over 100 community service hours and serving over 5000 families!

Antoine Bradley II

My name is Antoine Bradley II, I graduated University Preparatory Art & Design Academy in 2024 and I’m currently attending Lansing Community College.

I am studying Cyber Security and spent my summer with FYN planting urban gardens, learning how to screen print, helping the solar cyber security sector, and distributing food to community collecting over 100 community service hours and serving over 5000 families!

My name is Isaac Howard, I graduated from Cass Technical High School in 2024 and now currently a sophomore at University of Michigan Dearbon.

I am studying Computer Information Science. This summer, I interned with Detroit Voltage Secure First, where I responded to downed power lines and helped establish safety barriers to protect both community members and staff.
